ELECTROLYSIS
PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL
The Only Permanent Way!
Electrolysis is the only method of permanent hair removal approved by the FDA.
Understanding Electrolysis Treatments

Truly Permanent Hair Removal

One of the most common questions we hear is:
“If electrolysis permanently removes hair, why does it take multiple treatments?”

The answer comes down to how hair grows and how electrolysis works. For electrolysis to permanently destroy a hair, a tiny probe must be inserted into the natural opening of the follicle. The energy is delivered to the base of the follicle, where the hair root and growth cells live. Once those cells are destroyed, that hair can never grow again.

However, several natural factors affect how quickly every hair can be treated.

Hair Grows in Cycles

Every hair follicle on your body goes through a natural growth cycle: Active growth → resting → shedding → replacement

At any given time:
• Some follicles are actively growing hair
• Some are resting with no visible hair
• Some are shedding old hair
• Some are just beginning a new hair

Because of this cycle, many follicles are empty during your appointment. Those follicles will produce new hairs later, which may appear like regrowth — but they are actually new hairs that were dormant during earlier treatments.
This is why electrolysis treatments are scheduled over time, allowing us to treat hairs as they enter the active growth phase.

Some Hair Follicles Are Curved

Hair follicles are not always perfectly straight.
Many follicles can be:
• curved
• twisted
• distorted from previous hair removal methods like waxing or tweezing

These shapes can sometimes make it harder to reach the exact base of the follicle on the first treatment.
When that happens, the hair may grow again — but with continued treatments, the follicle can eventually be reached and permanently destroyed.

Thick or Deep Hairs May Require Gradual Treatment

Some hairs are naturally larger and deeper rooted than others.
In these cases, treating the follicle gradually over multiple sessions protects the surrounding skin and ensures the best cosmetic result.

Our goal is always to remove the hair while keeping your skin healthy and beautiful.

Why Consistency Matters

Because hair grows in cycles and follicles vary in shape and depth, regular treatments are the key to permanent results.
Most clients see hair becoming:
• finer
• slower growing
• less dense with each treatment.

Eventually, all active follicles are treated and the unwanted hair is gone for good.

The Bottom Line

Electrolysis works because it treats each hair follicle individually. While this requires multiple treatments, the reward is something no other hair removal method can offer:
Permanent hair removal. Once a follicle has been successfully treated, that hair will never grow again.

The Science Behind Electrolysis
A small electric current is transmitted by a fine, sterile probe directly into the natural opening of the hair follicle. A quick, computer-controlled current is then applied to destroy the hair growth cells including the dermal papilla, the matrix, and an area called "the bulge," all of which cause hair to grow and regenerate.

There are three types, or modalities, of electrolysis used today: galvanic (current produces a chemical reaction), thermolysis (short-wave which produces heat), and a modality that blends the two. They all result in effective permanent hair removal. At Unique Spa Services & Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Electrolysis, we use the thermolysis method of electrolysis.
